The MFB has developed the Victorian Built Environment Risk Assessment Process (V-BERAP), a tool for assessing structure fire and HAZMAT risk in the built environment. The V-BERAP will greatly assist municipalities, and other risk groups to identify and tailor programs to manage risk to meet community needs. The V-BERAP will be replaced with a COTS selecetd by open tender.
The V-BERAP is an innovative set of guidelines designed to fill an identified community need. However, using it in its current form can be a manually driven, cumbersome, resource intensive and technical process.
By developing an online, software solution that guides users through the V-BERAP process the MFB has the opportunity to achieve improved outcomes, resulting in a safer community.
This software will be the Victorian Emergency Risk Management System (VERMS).
